The Centre offers an alternative setting that provides strong academic credit courses in English, mathematics, science, life skills and other Ministry of Education approved courses. A combination of classroom instruction (conditional upon campus availability) and self-directed study provides the Centre staff opportunities to foster an environment that allows students to take responsibility for their studies, to increase their life options, and to have confidence in themselves and their ability to function successfully in today?s society. The ILP, situated in the Peterborough Centre for Individual Studies, offers approximately 40 Ministry of Education approved secondary school courses which lead to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

International Language Program
Students may study a language of their choice at either the elementary school level or for credit at the secondary school level. Classes are held during the evening or on Saturday mornings and in the past we have offered elementary Polish, Korean, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Punjabi, German and Hebrew. At the secondary level, we offer Korean, Hindi, Polish and Spanish. Secondary school students may take up to 3 credits in International Languages.

English as a Second Language
The goal of our program is to provide basic language training in English to adult newcomers. We facilitate, with the help of community agencies and organizations, the social, cultural and economic integration of immigrants and refugees so that they may become participating members of Canadian society. The intent of the program is to include material that focuses on orientation to Canada.
