PARKS SEASONAL LABOURER/OPERATOR

The Municipality of Brighton is accepting applications for Temporary Parks Seasonal Labourer/Operators. Reporting to the Director of Parks and Recreation, you will maintain municipal properties including parks, gardens, sports fields, cemeteries, trails and boat launches and perform custodial duties at municipal facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and custodial duties at municipal parks, gardens, sports fields, cemeteries, boat launches and facilities

  • Operate and maintain various equipment including lawn cutting equipment and ball diamond tractor

  • Weekend ball diamond maintenance and set up

General Abilities

  • Ontario Secondary School diploma

  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License

  • Physically fit

  • Working knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment operation

  • Experience using small tools, lawn and garden equipment

  • Able to work evenings and weekends

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

  • Good customer service skills

1- Start Date: April 18, 2017; End Date: October 13, 2017  2- Start Date: May 23, 2017; End Date: November 17, 2017

Hours: 40 hours per week includes weekend work.

Pay Rate:  CUPE Band 5

SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

To be considered for a student position you must be a minimum of age 16 years and provide proof of registration in a full-time program of education in this academic year and returning to school on a full-time basis in the fall. Capital Infrastructure students will have successfully completed one year in a certified civil engineering technology or civil engineering program.

Positions will be offered pending budget approval.

Public Works Operations or Capital Infrastructure Summer Student

To assist in the construction and maintenance of municipal infrastructure including roads, ditches, culverts, water and waste water collection systems and buildings. Capital Infrastructure students will also assist in construction design and project reviews and the municipal capital asset management program.

Downtown Business Improvement Association Student

To assist in the maintenance of the Brighton Downtown core with duties including litter collection, side walk sweeping, cleaning, weeding, planting, trimming and other duties as assigned

Term: weekends in June increase to 20 hours/week in July & August, 2017         Rate: $11.00/hour
